Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide on-shift leadership as the charge nurse to ensure safe, high-quality, compassionate patient care
• Serve as a clinical mentor and resource for staff, offering guidance on clinical and interpersonal issues
• Round on patients to identify and address service or safety concerns proactively
• Assume charge nurse duties as needed based on census and staffing levels
• Support a positive work environment through coaching, delegation, and timely communication
• Perform accurate and timely documentation using Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit CA license) — state licensure as required
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• Must have served as a charge RN in most recent assignment (no first-time travelers)
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• NIHSS certification (AHA or APEX) required
• Telemetry experience required and familiarity with Cerner charting
• Comfort with float assignments and taking on managerial/lead responsibilities

Education

• Active RN license
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring skills and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Proven charge nurse leadership and team coordination
• Clinical mentorship and coaching abilities
• Skilled in patient rounding and identifying safety/service issues
• Proficient with Cerner electronic health record
• Ability to handle managerial responsibilities, staffing decisions, and escalation
