Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (typical schedule: 3 nights/week = 36 hours; includes weekend coverage — 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; holidays per unit needs)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor neuro/telemetry patients with strong critical thinking to detect subtle changes
- Perform telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition to keep patients safe
- Provide specialized epilepsy/EEG trend care including 24–48 hour trend EEG observation and documentation
- Deliver hands-on care such as Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes, and maintain sterile technique (SIMs Lab required)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists, IV SWAT) to coordinate care
- Accurately document patient care in Cerner and communicate changes promptly
- Support patient safety through proper lifts/restraints education and wound care practices
- Float to Med-Surg/Telemetry as needed and step into charge/resource roles when assigned
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to submit state license; willing to wait if processing)
- Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience required (Med-Surg/Telemetry or Neuro preferred)
- Must have Level 1 Trauma experience (required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- BSN preferred; Med-Surg/Telemetry certification preferred
- Competent with Foley catheter insertion and central line care (SIMs Lab is pass/fail on day 1)
- Must pass unit dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
- Travel clinicians must provide their own vehicle and meet facility grooming/appearance requirements for fit testing
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- Neuro patient assessment and cranial nerve evaluation
- EEG trending and epilepsy monitoring familiarity
- Central line care and sterile technique
- Foley/urinary catheter care and insertion skills
- IV insertion/advanced IV skillset; familiarity with SWAT IV team collaboration
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- Ability to work with BiPAP/vent support and collaborate with respiratory therapy
