Roles & Responsibilities

• Interpret telemetry and ECG strips and document/sign at least once per shift to maintain high-quality cardiac monitoring
• Provide direct patient care for telemetry/medical-surgical patients (CHF, respiratory, GI, post cath, total joint replacement, CVA/TIA)
• Administer medications and manage set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem/Cardizem) per unit protocol
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including charge nurses, RTs, and monitor techs to ensure safe patient care
• Perform patient assessments, monitor trends, and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Chart accurately in Cerner during a condensed orientation period
• Float to East Campus or PCU when needed, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork
• Contribute to a safe, compassionate environment and support patient/family education

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (telemetry/medical-surgical preferred)
• BLS and ACLS required prior to or at start of assignment
• Must take and pass the dysrhythmia exam prior to signing contract (score 80% within two attempts required)
• Experience interpreting basic telemetry strips and signing telemetry documentation each shift
• Experience with CVA/TIA and total joint replacement patients preferred
• Comfortable with respiratory support equipment (BiPAP/CPAP) and respiratory treatments
• Cerner experience recommended (only one day of orientation on charting system)
• Candidates must meet Radius Rule: within 50 miles and not employed (FT/PT/PRN) with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities in the past year

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/dysrhythmia recognition
• Cardiac and medical-surgical patient assessment
• Set-rate IV drip management (Diltiazem/Cardizem familiarity)
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Strong clinical judgment and timely escalation skills
• Effective communication and teamwork on fast-paced units
• Time management for 12-hour shift workflow
