Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry continuously and interpret EKGs to detect dysrhythmias promptly
• Titrate cardiac drips safely and accurately according to provider orders and unit protocols
• Float across Telemetry, MedSurg, Neuro, and occasional ICU or Cath Lab holding areas as needed
• Provide compassionate acute care for post-cath, post-op cardiac/CABG, neuro, oncology, ortho, and general med-surg patients
• Collaborate with PCTs, RT, pharmacy, hospitalists, and clinical supervisors to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner and communicate changes at handoff
• Complete required competency checks including dysrhythmia exam and sim lab to maintain assignment eligibility
• Support unit staffing needs including working scheduled weekends and designated holidays

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with telemetry or med-surgical background preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS required for Neuro shifts
• Demonstrated ability to titrate cardiac drips (Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin management per local policy)
• Strong EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Comfort floating between units and between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses (must clock out/in when changing campus)

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN, or BSN accepted; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and centralized tele systems
• EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Cardiac medication titration and IV drip management
• Acute care assessment and post-op cardiac/CABG patient care
• Medical-surgical nursing principles including ortho and oncology basics
• Ability to work with Spectralink phones and unit communication systems
• Team-based collaboration with PCTs, RTs, pharmacy, and hospitalists
• Familiarity with unit ratios and working with charge nurse and clinical supervisor models
