Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night), shift times 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Typical schedule is 3 shifts/week (varies by rotation), includes 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and rotating holiday coverage. Night-focused assignments available.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to ED hold and telemetry patients, using strong cardiac monitoring skills to keep patients safe
• Assess and interpret ECG strips and dysrhythmias, escalating concerns and acting per protocols
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone) per physician orders and unit parameters
• Perform IV medication administration and IV starts as needed to support timely treatment
• Collaborate with the ED team and float to med/surg/tele units to ensure smooth patient transitions
• Participate in orientation and pass required dysrhythmia exam and SIM lab to demonstrate competency
• Document care accurately in Cerner to maintain clear communication and patient safety

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (state where assignment occurs)
• Minimum 2 years telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience, recent within the past 6 months
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required (AHA or APEX acceptable)
• Comfort and experience with ECG/dysrhythmia recognition and ECG strip interpretation
• Proven ability to titrate cardiac drips safely and follow physician parameters
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Willingness to complete a dysrhythmia exam via RELIAS within 48 hours of offer and pass a SIM lab on day one

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong cardiac telemetry knowledge and rhythm interpretation
• Proficiency with titratable cardiac medications and drip management
• IV medication administration and IV start skills
• Familiarity with acute care and ED hold workflows
• Experience using Cerner electronic health record
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and communicate effectively under pressure
• Comfort floating between med/surg, telemetry and ED overflow units
