Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and strips accurately to inform timely clinical decisions
• Provide high-quality MedSurg and acute care nursing for a diverse patient population including ESRD, DM, COPD and ETOH
• Float to the telemetry unit when needed and confidently manage telemetry patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments, administer medications and manage non-vented respiratory support such as BiPAP/CPAP
• Document patient care comprehensively in Cerner PowerChart to maintain clear communication and continuity
• Collaborate with physicians, RT, pharmacy and interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care
• Support charge nurses and nurse aides, escalate concerns appropriately, and participate in unit staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (able to submit)
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (MedSurg/Telemetry preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certification; NIHSS required
• Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac strips; basic arrhythmia course preferred
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR
• Experience caring for patients with ESRD, diabetes, COPD and alcohol-related conditions
• Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP and basic acute care interventions

Education

• BSN required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Solid MedSurg and acute care assessment and intervention knowledge
• Proficient charting in Cerner PowerChart
• Ability to work efficiently with nurse aides and float between units
• Good communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Comfort with hospital protocols, escalation pathways and working holidays/weekends
