Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry and med-surgical nursing care for adult patients using strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Safely titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per unit protocols and physician orders
• Continuously interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias — you will need to demonstrate this competence
• Float across Telemetry, Med-Surg, Neuro, and occasional higher-acuity areas (ICU/Cardiac Tele) as staffing needs require
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (physicians, RT, pharmacy, PCTs) to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in Cerner and participate in handoffs between campuses when required
• Participate in unit orientation, simulation lab, and competency testing as part of onboarding

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure eligible for submission in Arizona (must be able to submit license)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience (Telemetry/Med-Surg focus preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS required for Neuro shifts
• Demonstrated ability to interpret EKGs and manage telemetry patients independently
• Proven experience titrating cardiac drips and managing vasoactive infusions
• Willingness and ability to float across units and between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (within 48 hours of offer, max 2 attempts) and a pass/fail simulation lab on day one of orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Management of cardiac meds (Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine, etc.)
• Vasoactive infusion titration and bedside hemodynamic assessment
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
• Strong prioritization, delegation, and communication skills in fast-paced acute care
• Experience with post-op cardiac, post-cath lab, neuro post-op and stroke care
• Comfort working with centralized tele monitoring systems and responding to alerts
