Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality acute nursing care for telemetry and med-surg patients across units, including post-cath and post-op cardiac patients
• Interpret EKGs and perform continuous telemetry monitoring to identify dysrhythmias and intervene quickly
• Titrate cardiac drips and manage inotropic or vasoactive medications safely and precisely
• Float between Telemetry, MedSurg, and higher-acuity areas as needed, adapting quickly to changing patient mixes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, notify physicians or hospitalists, and escalate care when required
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Cerner and follow unit-specific protocols
• Participate in mandatory competency checks including a dysrhythmia exam and a simulation lab on orientation day
• Contribute to a safe patient environment and support unit-based quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (ability to obtain AZ license if required)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care or telemetry nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required for Neuro shifts
• Proven ability to titrate cardiac drips and manage vasoactive medications
• Strong telemetry/EKG interpretation skills and comfort with centralized tele monitoring
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic medical record systems preferred
• Willingness to float between units and between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses
• Successful completion of required dysrhythmia exam (within 48 hours of offer, 2 attempts max) and pass simulation lab on orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• EKG interpretation and continuous telemetry monitoring
• Cardiac medication titration and inotropic/vasoactive medication management
• ACLS, BLS protocols and NIHSS assessment for neuro patients
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and central monitoring workflows
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making in acute settings
• Ability to work effectively in a float pool across varied acuity levels
• Strong communication skills with nursing teams, physicians, and ancillary services
