Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver high-quality MedSurg and telemetry care
• Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips, responding to dysrhythmias appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following hospital protocols
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and safe transitions
• Precept and mentor nursing students and new staff when asked, contributing to the unit's learning culture
• Float to related units as needed, providing adaptable care across MST, PCU, and Pediatric settings
• Participate in standby/rotation and holiday scheduling as required to support unit coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit to the employer)
• Minimum 2 years overall RN experience (per job posting) with at least 1 year in MedSurg
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS current
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry and pass dysrhythmia exam with 80% within two attempts prior to contract
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and floating to other units
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Willingness to precept nursing students and work within facility radius/employment restrictions noted by employer

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Solid MedSurg (MST/PCU) clinical skills and prioritization
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP care for stable patients
• Familiarity with remote monitor workflows and collaborating with monitor techs
• Ability to work within specified nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 1:5-6)
• Strong clinical documentation skills in Cerner and clear interdisciplinary communication
