Roles & Responsibilities

• Interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift to ensure accurate cardiac monitoring
• Provide high-quality care for patients with CHF, respiratory issues, COVID, GI conditions, diabetes, post-cath patients, and total joint replacements
• Deliver post-procedure monitoring and care for post-cath and total joint replacement patients
• Collaborate with monitor techs, charge nurses, RTs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe patient care
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips such as Diltiazem/Cardizem per unit policy
• Document care thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner during a concise orientation
• Educate patients and families on condition management, discharge planning, and safety
• Float to other units as assigned and adapt quickly to changing unit needs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (telemetry/medical-surgical experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven ability to read basic telemetry strips and perform ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Cerner experience recommended due to abbreviated orientation
• Must meet radius and employment eligibility: within 50 miles rule and not employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities (including CHI or Dignity) in the past year

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN is not required (ADN or diploma acceptable)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• ECG/dysrhythmia recognition and telemetry strip reading
• Post-cath and post-operative joint replacement care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and respiratory interventions
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Basic IV/med administration and set-rate drip monitoring
• Strong assessment, triage, and patient education skills
• Team communication and the ability to float between units
