Shift Type: Rotating nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Night). Rotating schedule with 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule; every-other-week (EOW) rotations; schedules posted in 4-week blocks with self-scheduling subject to manager finalization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry and med-surg nursing care for patients including post-operative orthopedic and spinal surgery cases
• Interpret telemetry strips and document/sign at least once per shift to ensure accurate cardiac monitoring
• Assess patients quickly and accurately, responding to changes in condition and escalating concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and set-rate drips (example: diltiazem at a set rate) according to unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including remote monitor techs, respiratory therapists, and charge nurses to coordinate excellent care
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in Cerner to support continuity of care
• Float to East Campus or PCU when needed and support unit staffing and patient flow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; telemetry and med-surg or orthopedic surgical experience highly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips; cardiac rhythm interpretation experience a plus
• Cerner experience recommended (orientation on-unit is brief: one shift)
• Willingness to work nights, follow the 4-week schedule and float when needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/diploma acceptable). BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• MedSurg nursing principles and post-operative orthopedic/spine care
• Patient assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
• Familiarity with respiratory support devices: BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen
• Experience with electronic charting (Cerner)
• Comfort working with remote monitor/telemetry systems and collaborating with monitor techs
