Registered Nurse - Telemetry Float Pool

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), typical schedule includes rotating weekend coverage (4 weekend shifts per 4-week period) and required holiday coverage (must work 2 of 3 major holidays); guaranteed 36 hours/week. Night floating between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care across Telemetry and MedSurg units, including post-cath and post-operative cardiac patients
- Titrate cardiac drips precisely and confidently as ordered, following unit protocols
- Interpret EKGs and recognize dysrhythmias to support rapid clinical decision-making
- Float between units and campuses as needed, providing seamless continuity of care
- Participate in mandatory competency checks including a dysrhythmia exam and simulation lab
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, RTs, pharmacy, and PCTs to optimize patient outcomes
- Work weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled and support surge needs across units
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- Minimum 2 years of relevant acute care nursing experience (Telemetry/MedSurg preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required for Neuro/Stroke coverage
- Demonstrated ability to titrate cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine per local policy)
- Proven EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills; must pass dysrhythmia exam within required attempts
- Comfortable floating between units and campuses and able to travel between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert (approx. 9 miles)
- Cerner EHR experience preferred or demonstrated competency with electronic charting systems
- Successful completion of day-one simulation lab required
Education
- ADN or BSN in Nursing (BSN not required)
- Active RN license; BSN preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and centralized telemetry interpretation
- EKG rhythm analysis and dysrhythmia recognition
- Cardiac medication titration and post-procedural cardiac care
- Medical-Surgical nursing fundamentals and postoperative management
- Stroke/TPA care and NIHSS assessment skills
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record workflows
- Ability to work with PCTs and adapt to varied unit staffing models
