Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
• Titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin and Amiodarone per physician orders and parameters
• Provide skilled care for ED holds and telemetry patients, focusing on cardiac stability
• Perform IV starts and safe medication administration with attention to detail
• Collaborate with ED charge nurses, PCTs and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow
• Float to med/surg, telemetry and overflow units as needed, adapting quickly to changing patient needs
• Complete accurate documentation in Cerner to support high-quality care and smooth handoffs
• Participate in a pass/fail sim lab on orientation day and complete required dysrhythmia testing

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible to work in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience, with experience within the past 6 months
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required (AHA or APEX accepted)
• Comfort and proven skill reading and interpreting ECG strips and dysrhythmias
• Ability to titrate cardiac drips and follow physician parameters
• Willingness to complete RELIAS dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (2 max attempts) and to pass a sim lab on day one
• IV start and medication administration experience
• Flexible and team-oriented with ability to float to other units

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) accepted; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring best practices
• ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Titration of cardiac drips and hemodynamic assessment
• Strong clinical judgment in ED hold and telemetry settings
• Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and patients
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Familiarity with Relias dysrhythmia testing and sim lab workflows
