Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to MedSurg/Telemetry patients
• Monitor and accurately interpret cardiac telemetry strips and act on changes
• Document assessments and interventions thoroughly in Cerner PowerChart
• Collaborate with hospitalists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and the care team
• Float confidently to telemetry when needed and support unit staffing needs
• Support and supervise nurse aides and ensure safe patient care assignments
• Respond to patient emergencies and escalate concerns promptly and professionally
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as part of the unit staffing plan

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit) and BSN required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (MedSurg or telemetry experience preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips; basic arrhythmia course preferred
• Comfortable with CPAP and BiPAP management and common MedSurg patients such as ESRD, DM, COPD, ETOH
• Willingness to float to telemetry and work every other weekend and holidays

Education

• BSN required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• MedSurg nursing fundamentals including patient assessment and care planning
• Experience charting in Cerner PowerChart
• Familiarity with CPAP and BiPAP support and collaborating with respiratory therapy
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced acute care setting with 5:1 ratios
• Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary teams
