Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage observation patients quickly and accurately to support rapid decision-making
• Continuously monitor telemetry and recognize dysrhythmias for timely intervention
• Interpret ECGs and escalate concerns to providers when necessary
• Administer medications such as amiodarone, diltiazem, and labetalol per unit protocols
• Provide focused post–heart cath care for stable patients and support pre/post-procedure needs
• Document clearly and thoroughly in Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy for safe patient care
• Participate in unit orientation, simulation lab, and competency testing to maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the practicing state (able to submit license)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience (experience must be recent within the past 6 months)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Telemetry experience and strong dysrhythmia recognition skills; must pass UNA dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts max)
• Comfort with observation/telemetry patient population including chest pain rule-out and post heart cath care
• Ability to float to med/surg/telemetry floors as needed
• Must not have held permanent employment at a CSH facility within the past 12 months
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility and be able to provide a current driver's license

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/dysrhythmia recognition
• Acute care nursing for observation and chest pain patients
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical assessment
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting
• Medication administration including non-titration amiodarone, diltiazem, labetalol
• Familiarity with post heart cath and IR/Endo patient care
• Simulation lab readiness and strong clinical competencies
