Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; every-other-week (EOW) scheduling with a weekend requirement (4 shifts per 4-week schedule). Weekend day shifts typically fall Sat/Sun; night weekend coverage (when applicable) typically Fri/Sat. Days / Day shift

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality telemetry nursing care to patients in a 31-bed acute telemetry/stepdown unit
- Continuously monitor and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms using Phillips telemetry
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care for post-pacer, new onset AFib/RVR, dialysis and other acute diagnoses
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists and nursing aides
- Respond promptly to call/standby requests (must report within 30 minutes when placed on call)
- Safely manage CPAP/BiPAP patients per RT guidance and escalate care when needed
- Document thoroughly and timely in Cerner EMR to support continuity and quality of care
- Float to designated units (MedSurg, ICU holds, ER holds) as needed to meet staffing demands
Qualifications
- Current RN license (California) required
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care telemetry nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required prior to start
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms (Phillips telemetry experience preferred)
- Experience with Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication systems
- Comfortable with floating to MedSurg/ICU/ER and working EOW/weekend schedules
- Ability to work within a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and handle high-acuity patients
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (required)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Acute/stepdown patient assessment and prioritization
- Experience with Phillips telemetry systems
- Familiarity with hemodialysis patients and post-pacer care
- CPAP/BiPAP management knowledge in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Proficient documentation skills in Cerner
- Strong communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills
