Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert telemetry monitoring and interpret ECG strips to spot dysrhythmias early
• Safely titrate cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone) per physician orders and parameters
• Perform IV starts and administer medications accurately and timely
• Care for ED hold patients awaiting placement, primarily medical-surgical and telemetry-level acuity
• Collaborate with ED charge nurses, PCTs, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe patient transitions
• Document care in Cerner and maintain accurate patient records
• Participate in orientation, pass a dysrhythmia exam and complete the pass/fail sim lab on day one

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit AZ license preferred) and eligibility to work on a travel contract
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or strong cardiac tele experience (experience must be recent within the past 6 months)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS required (AHA or APEX acceptable)
• Demonstrated ability to interpret ECGs and recognize dysrhythmias; must pass RELIAS dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (2 attempts max)
• Comfortable titrating cardiac drips and managing tele patients
• Ability to float to med/surg/tele/overflow units as needed and assist with ED patient tasks (vitals, IV starts, med administration)

Education

• Active RN license (ADN or BSN acceptable); BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation with dysrhythmia recognition
• Cardiac drip titration and hemodynamic assessment
• Strong assessment skills for ED hold and telemetry patients
• Experience with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced ED/acute settings
• Basic respiratory familiarity (no vents required) and working with PCTs/RT when needed
