Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality acute nursing care for trauma, ortho, surgical and post-op transplant patients
- Monitor telemetry continuously and promptly recognize and respond to dysrhythmias
- Perform sterile procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing care while maintaining sterile field
- Collaborate with the SWAT IV team, respiratory therapy and pharmacy for coordinated patient care
- Manage patient assignments within a 1:4-5 ratio and prioritize safe, effective interventions
- Complete required SIMs Lab competencies and participate in unit-based education like lifts, restraints and wound care
- Communicate clearly in Cerner EMR and support smooth handoffs during shift changes
- Float to observation, VMU and other med-surg/telemetry units as needed while maintaining standards of care
Qualifications
- Active RN license or eligibility to obtain an Arizona RN license (License to submit: yes, willing to wait)
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Must have Level 1 trauma experience (explicit requirement)
- Proven competency in dysrhythmia recognition (must pass dysrhythmia exam; two attempts allowed)
- Ability to pass SIMs Lab skills on day 1 (Foley insertion and central line dressing change where applicable)
- Ability to travel with own vehicle and meet 50 mile radius rule for submissions
- Facility grooming/fit requirements: natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit testing
Education
- Current RN degree (ADN/diploma or BSN); BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring with Phillips systems
- Dysrhythmia recognition and rapid cardiac assessment
- Cerner EMR charting and documentation
- Sterile technique for central line and Foley care
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and basic ventilatory support
- Post-op transplant and complex surgical patient care (including Whipple patients)
- Orthopedics and postop joint care
- Familiarity with lifts, restraints, wound care and working with interdisciplinary teams
