Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled neuro-telemetry nursing care for post-surgical and CVA/TPA patients on a 28-bed unit
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and EKGs to identify dysrhythmias and escalate concerns promptly
• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing interventions using sterile technique and infection prevention standards
• Collaborate with hospitalists, RT, pharmacy, and PCTs to create timely, patient-centered plans of care
• Manage a patient assignment with ratios typically 1:3-4 and support unit flow when floating
• Participate in unit orientation, pass initial competency checks, and maintain required certifications
• Communicate clearly with families and the interdisciplinary team about patient status and transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state or compact RN license as applicable
• Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient acute care nursing experience, with recent practice within the last 6 months
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Ability to pass a RELIAS dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (two attempts max)
• COVID vaccine required or an approved medical or religious declination with documentation
• Comfort and experience with 12-hour night shifts and centralized telemetry monitoring
• Successful completion of a pass/fail sterile field exam on day 1 of orientation

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate degree in Nursing or BSN acceptable; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry skills and confident EKG interpretation
• Familiarity with neuro post-surgical and stroke care including post-TPA management
• Proven sterile technique and infection control practices
• Experience with Cerner charting system
• Ability to work with PCTs and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort functioning in a level 1 trauma, acute care environment with hospitalist support
