Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously and act promptly on rhythm changes
• Deliver safe, patient-centered nursing care for a 31-bed telemetry unit (1:4 ratio)
• Document assessments, interventions and care plans accurately in Cerner
• Collaborate with physicians, RT, pharmacy (Omnicell) and the interdisciplinary team for optimal patient outcomes
• Respond to call/standby requirements and report within 30 minutes when placed on call
• Float as needed to MedSurg, stepdown, ICU or ED holds while maintaining high standards of care
• Precept and participate in orientation (1–2 shifts) to ensure smooth transition onto the unit

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to practice in California preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Proven telemetry experience with ability to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms (Phillips telemetry experience a plus)
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts, weekend coverage and holiday rotation
• Experience with Cerner charting and Omnicell pharmacy systems preferred
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP, hemodialysis patient needs, and high-acuity telemetry care

Education

• ADN or BSN (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Cerner EMR documentation and clinical charting
• Operation and interpretation of Phillips telemetry systems
• Basic hemodialysis patient needs and post-pacer monitoring
• Management of CPAP/BiPAP per RT orders and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Safe patient handling for heavy patients and wound/bedsores care
• Triage and care for stroke/TBI, sepsis, PEG tubes and other high-acuity telemetry diagnoses
