Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry to quickly identify cardiac changes and intervene safely
• Provide focused observation and acute care for patients with chest pain, post heart cath, pre/post procedures, and other telemetry diagnoses
• Administer cardiac medications such as amiodarone, diltiazem, and labetalol according to protocols
• Perform thorough patient assessments and escalate concerns to hospitalists or the care team as needed
• Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes during handoffs
• Participate in floating assignments to sister facilities or med-surg units as staffing requires
• Complete required simulation lab and competency evaluations during orientation

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (able to submit state license)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, with practice within the past 6 months
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam through UNA (max 2 attempts within 24-48 hours of offer)
• Must pass a pass/fail simulation lab on day 1 of orientation
• Must not have worked permanently at a CSH facility within the past 12 months (no exceptions)
• Must comply with 50 mile radius rule and provide current driver’s license at submission

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia recognition
• Strong critical thinking and acute care assessment skills
• Experience with observation unit workflows and chest pain evaluation
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Comfort administering non-titration cardiac meds and basic advanced cardiac care
• Ability to float to tele/med-surg floors and adapt to varied patient types
