Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, rotating schedule with self-scheduling in 4-week blocks; 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Interpret telemetry strips and document/sign at least once per shift to ensure cardiac events are recognized and managed promptly
- Provide high-quality nursing care for general medical, orthopedic and spinal surgical patients, and patients with CVA/TIA
- Manage respiratory needs including CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen and select breathing treatments
- Administer and monitor set-rate drips (e.g., diltiazem at set rate) and communicate changes to the care team
- Collaborate with remote telemetry/monitor techs and other interdisciplinary staff to coordinate safe patient care
- Perform accurate charting in Cerner and maintain continuity of care during shift handoffs
- Float to East Campus or PCU when needed, demonstrating adaptability and unit teamwork
Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (MedSurg/Telemetry preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips; ability to interpret and sign strips each shift
- Prior experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, and CVA/TIA care strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Cerner charting recommended (only one day of unit orientation)
- Willingness to work night shifts and float as required
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and basic telemetry strip interpretation
- MedSurg nursing fundamentals and postoperative orthopedic/spinal care
- ACLS & BLS protocols and emergency response
- Competence with respiratory equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen
- EHR/charting proficiency (Cerner experience recommended)
- Strong assessment, prioritization and communication skills in acute care settings
- Ability to work effectively in a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
