Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality acute and stepdown nursing care for cardiac and respiratory patients on a 20-bed PCU
• Monitor telemetry and interpret monitor strips to detect changes in patient status
• Titrate drips and manage common titratable medications such as Cardizem, heparin, and amiodarone
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including RTs and monitor techs, to coordinate patient care
• Document accurately in MediTech and ensure continuity of care during shift handoffs
• Float to ICU or Med/Surg as needed and serve as charge nurse when required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (OR license not required at time of submittal; facility can request a 90-day emergency license)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with recent acute care and cardiac/respiratory experience preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and basic drip titration
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP/high-flow nasal cannula and cardiac/respiratory patient populations
• Ability to respond to call/standby with expected maximum response time up to 45 minutes if placed on call

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for a 90-day emergency license
• BSN not required (preferred if available)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and monitor strip interpretation
• Cardiac and respiratory assessment and intervention
• Medication/drip titration (Cardizem, heparin, amiodarone)
• Familiarity with MediTech charting system
• Basic ventilatory support knowledge: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula
• Team leadership and charge nurse responsibilities, plus effective communication skills
