Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care on the PCU, managing adult (and rarely 15+ peds) patients with conditions like CVA/TIA and respiratory issues
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to ensure timely interventions
• Administer IV medications and manage Alaris and PCA pump therapy safely
• Perform hourly rounding and maintain excellent patient experience and responsiveness
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including educators, care managers, social workers, PT/OT, and dieticians
• Respond to emergencies using ACLS protocols when required
• Support unit staffing needs and float to MS areas when asked

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for Nebraska submission
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (NIHSS required at submission)
• Telemetry competency and comfort with stepdown/PCU acuity
• Experience with EPIC charting and Alaris IV pump operation
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius requirement applies)
• Willingness to complete orientation exam (open-book) and comply with unit policies (for example, no artificial nails)

Education

• Active RN license (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition
• IV medication administration and pump management (Alaris, PCA experience helpful)
• Stroke care knowledge, including NIHSS scoring
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record
• Hourly rounding and strong patient communication skills
• Safe patient handling using mechanical lifts
• Ability to work effectively in a tight-knit, collaborative unit
