Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality acute nursing care across MedSurg, Telemetry and PCU settings
• Monitor patients continuously and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips
• Titrate and manage vasoactive and anticoagulant infusions safely and according to protocol
• Care for post-procedural cardiac patients including post-cath and CABG recovery
• Collaborate with monitor techs, respiratory therapists and interdisciplinary team members
• Document patient assessments, interventions and responses accurately in Cerner
• Support unit flow by accepting float assignments and adapting to different unit layouts
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications and discharge instructions

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid for practice in Arizona (compact or state license acceptable where applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/stepdown experience required; 2 years acute care experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required prior to start
• Successful completion of dysrhythmia exam with score ≥80% within two attempts (required to sign contract)
• Comfortable titrating heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin and similar drips
• Experience with Cerner or other electronic charting systems preferred
• Must be able to float between MedSurg, Telemetry and PCU across campuses
• Cannot have been full time, part time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities within the past year (radius rule)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• PCU and MedSurg/Stepdown nursing practices and patient care
• Drip titration and management of vasoactive/anticoagulant infusions
• Post-op cardiac care including groin site management and CABG recovery
• Use of CPAP/BiPAP and heated high flow devices
• Collaborative communication with monitor techs, RTs and interdisciplinary teams
• Proficient charting in Cerner and accurate documentation habits
• Ability to adapt quickly in a float pool environment and manage varying patient loads
