Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and EKGs to detect dysrhythmias and act promptly
• Titrate IV drips safely and accurately for cardiac meds, heparin, Lasix, bumex and other titratables
• Provide compassionate bedside care for patients with CHF, fluid overload, SOB, arrhythmias and related conditions
• Collaborate with the care team and charge nurse to maintain a 1:3-4 ratio and deliver high-quality stepdown care
• Use Cerner charting to document assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly
• Participate in unit-based orientation, simulation, and competency assessments to ensure readiness
• Float to other telemetry units as needed while maintaining consistent standards of care
• Support patient safety and unit efficiency while following hospital policies and evidence-based practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry or stepdown nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA preferred)
• Proven ability to interpret EKGs and manage cardiac telemetry patients
• Experience titrating IV drips and administering cardiac medications
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts with every-other-weekend rotation
• Must not have been employed as FT/PT/PRN at a CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year

Education

• Active RN license (BSN not required)
• ADN, diploma, or BSN acceptable (BSN not required per job details)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and central telemetry systems
• EKG monitoring and interpretation skills
• IV drip titration and cardiac medication administration
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP support and basic respiratory care
• Ability to work within a stepdown/PCU environment and triage acuity
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
