Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality stepdown care for acute patients, monitoring clinical status and responding to changes
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately according to hospital protocols
• Perform timely assessments and use critical thinking to escalate patient needs when necessary
• Document care thoroughly in Cerner to ensure clear communication across the care team
• Apply NIHSS and other stroke assessments when indicated to support rapid interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized patient plans
• Support patient and family education, helping patients transition to the next level of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ability to submit required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience working in IMC/DOU or Stepdown/Acute care settings
• Comfortable with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Willingness to work night shifts and float per the every-other-weekend (EOW) requirement

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN not required (BSN listed as not required)
• Clinical orientation provided (12 hours)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong acute care and stepdown clinical skills including telemetry and progressive care monitoring
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record
• Solid understanding of ACLS protocols and NIHSS stroke assessment
• Excellent assessment, prioritization and critical thinking abilities
• Clear communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary staff
• Ability to accurately document and manage workloads during 12-hour night shifts
