Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care for intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients in the Cardiac/Vascular Unit
• Assess and monitor patients on telemetry, interpret strips, and respond to changes in cardiac rhythm
• Titrate IV drips safely and accurately, including amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine and diltiazem
• Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalists, intensivists and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Use EPIC to document assessments, medications, and care plans in a timely, professional manner
• Support the thoracic, EP, cath lab and structural heart programs with skilled post-operative and stepdown care
• Supervise and coordinate care with patient care techs and remote tele techs, communicating effectively with charge nurse
• Deliver patient and family education on cardiac disease, medications and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Nebraska
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience caring for cardiac/stepdown or similar patient population
• Ability to titrate IV drips and manage complex cardiac patients
• Must have a valid driver's license at time of submittal due to radius requirements
• Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity

Education

• Active RN license (state of Nebraska)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Experience with EPIC charting and documentation
• Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP troubleshooting and RT collaboration
• Cath lab and structural heart program workflows
• Management of CHF, atrial fibrillation with RVR, CVA and other cardiac/vascular diagnoses
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization and crisis management skills
• Effective teamwork and charge nurse collaboration
