Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care (PCU/stepdown) nursing for adult patients, prioritizing safety and timely interventions
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect and escalate changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and drips safely, including PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin, following facility protocols
• Use EPIC for accurate charting and timely documentation of assessments, meds, and care plans
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (educators, care managers, social workers, PT/OT, dieticians) to coordinate patient-centered care
• Perform hourly rounding and promote excellent patient experience through responsiveness and communication
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining appropriate RN-to-patient ratios (1:4 typical)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in assigned state)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (PCU/stepdown or telemetry experience preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (NIHSS also required for submission)
• Demonstrated telemetry competency and experience with telemetry monitoring
• Experience with EPIC charting and Alaris IV pump operation
• Ability to pass a unit skills pass/fail exam during orientation (90% required)
• Driver's license required at time of submittal
• Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry rhythm recognition and cardiac assessment
• Proficient EPIC documentation and electronic charting workflow
• Safe medication administration and IV pump management (Alaris, PCA familiarity)
• Patient-centered communication and effective interdisciplinary collaboration
• Comfort with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling
• Time management and ability to manage a busy PCU workload
