Shift Type: Nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour nights), guaranteed 36 hours/week, every other weekend required, every third holiday; floating to medical floors/ICU/rehab as needed

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a busy PCU/stepdown unit
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and continuous EEG, identify trends and escalate changes promptly
- Titrate drips (including diltiazem, beta blockers and seizure medications) per physician orders and unit protocols
- Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to maintain continuity of care
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Perform patient and family education to support discharge planning and self-care
- Assist with unit flow and act professionally within established ratios (1:4-5 typical)
- Complete unit onboarding and competency assessments, including the required orientation exam
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for submission in Nebraska
- BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience (PCU/stepdown or telemetry preferred)
- Experience with EPIC charting and continuous EEG/telemetry monitoring
- Valid driver’s license required at submission (used to confirm radius rule)
- Ability to titrate medications and manage cardiac/neurologic patients safely
- Willingness to complete orientation requirements and pass the open-book skills exam (90% required)
- Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity) within the 50-mile radius
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma acceptable (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Continuous EEG familiarity
- Medication titration and drip management
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity stepdown environment
- Flexibility to float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
