Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM NOC; every other weekend; every third holiday
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes diagnoses
- Safely titrate drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications according to orders and protocols
- Perform continuous EEG monitoring observation and report significant findings to the care team
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure seamless communication
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including charge nurses and patient care techs, to maintain safe ratios and smooth workflow
- Mentor and support colleagues on the floor, demonstrating strong critical thinking and problem-solving
- Assist with patient transitions and float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
- Maintain compliance with unit policies, including fingernail/artificial nail rules and orientation exam requirements
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for Nebraska submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience (PCU/stepdown, med-surg, or ICU experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required for stroke assessment
- Demonstrated experience with EPIC charting
- Proven ability to titrate drips and manage cardiac medications
- Driver's license at time of submittal to meet the 50-mile radius rule
- Willingness to complete orientation, pass a skills exam with a 90% score, and adhere to facility policies
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) acceptable; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of PCU/stepdown nursing principles and patient monitoring
- Familiarity with cardiac care, nephrology, stroke care, and diabetes management
- Comfort with continuous EEG monitoring and recognizing critical changes
- Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment under fast-paced conditions
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
- Ability to float to ICU, medical floors, or rehab when needed
