Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to pediatric and adult MST patients, ensuring safety and comfort
• Perform telemetry monitoring and accurately read cardiac strips for adult MST patients
• Administer medications, monitor patient response, and intervene appropriately using evidence-based practice
• Stabilize patients using high-flow oxygen and BiPAP as needed while coordinating transfers for higher-acuity care
• Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and remote monitor techs to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in unit orientation, ongoing training, and competency validation such as the dysrhythmia exam
• Float to MCU, MST, or birthing unit as assigned and support cross-training efforts to meet patient needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in current state or ability to obtain prior to assignment
• Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS and PALS (current)
• Comfortable and experienced caring for pediatric patients and willing to care for adults on mixed unit
• Ability to pass the dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) prior to contract start
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and reading strips
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Willingness to float to related units (MST/MCU/birthing) as needed

Education

• Active RN licensure (required)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric nursing knowledge including respiratory illnesses and seizure care
• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Acute care assessment and delegation with NA collaboration
• Experience stabilizing patients for transfer and working with RT for high-flow/BiPAP
• Proficient documentation skills in Cerner
• Excellent communication, triage, and teamwork abilities
• Ability to adapt to mixed adult/pediatric patient ratios and changing unit census
