Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-operative assessments and ensure patients are ready for surgery
• Provide focused post-anesthesia monitoring and safe handoffs in the PACU
• Document care accurately and efficiently using EPIC charting
• Administer medications and interventions according to ACLS/BLS/PALS protocols
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and discharge plans
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the care team during fast-paced OR turnover
• Prioritize patient safety and maintain situational awareness in a high-acuity surgical setting
• Adapt to a variety of surgical specialties — from orthopedics and arthroscopy to robotics and open heart

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (state of practice)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (must be current)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience (strong preference for 3 years)
• Comfortable with pre-op and PACU workflows and EPIC charting
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work effectively with surgical teams
• Open to required onboarding rules (radius restrictions apply); able to meet upfront RTO requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma accepted (BSN not required)
• Active RN licensure in good standing

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of pre-operative assessment and post-anesthesia care
• Experience caring for pediatric through geriatric populations
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Exposure to orthopedic, sports medicine, arthroscopy, robotic-assisted, and cardiac surgical cases
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and multi-tasking abilities
• Comfort working on a level II trauma service and following charge nurse leadership
