Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care across multiple service lines, including neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedics, GYN and robotics
• Prepare, assist and circulate during surgical cases while maintaining strict patient safety standards
• Document patient care and surgical events accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Coordinate surgical case flow and communicate with the team to keep cases on schedule
• Participate in orientation and skills validation (including an open-book skills exam during orientation)
• Float to Pre-Op, PACU or ER for trauma cases when needed, supporting continuity of care
• Serve as a team player who mentors peers, shares knowledge and helps maintain a positive unit culture
• Adhere to hospital policies including infection control (artificial nails prohibited) and drive compliance

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (perioperative/OR experience preferred)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Neurosurgery experience (need 3’s and 4’s in Neuro) and comfort across all surgical service lines
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Ability to pass orientation skills exam (open book) with a 90% score
• Willingness to work scheduled on-call nights, weekends and rotating holidays
• Not currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and OR workflows
• Competence with EPIC charting and documentation
• Familiarity with DaVinci robotics and a broad range of surgical procedures
• Neurosurgery case knowledge (levels 3 and 4), ENT, orthopedic, GYN and general surgeries
• Surgical case management, instrument handling and sterile technique
• Strong communication, teamwork and ability to triage in fast-paced situations
• Ability to float to Pre-Op, PACU and ER for trauma when trained
