Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room and sterile field for a wide variety of cases, from general surgery to neurosurgery and DaVinci robotics
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs during cases and provide instruments and supplies promptly and safely
• Assist with setup, turnover, and sterile technique for craniotomies, endoscopy, ENT, orthopedics, GYN, OB and pediatric cases
• Perform accurate instrument counts and ensure all surgical documentation is complete in EPIC
• Support trauma care by floating to pre/post-op and the ER when needed and respond effectively during emergent cases
• Model and enforce infection control standards and hospital policies including fingernail/artificial nail requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of OR surgical tech experience (neuro and craniotomy experience emphasized per facility requirement)
• Current BLS certification required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Must not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility including CHI or Dignity
• Comfortable working across multiple service lines; ability to adapt to varied daily surgical schedules
• Willingness to participate in scheduled on-call nights, weekend rotation and holiday coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile/scrub technique and OR workflow experience
• Experience with neurosurgery and craniotomy cases
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and documentation
• Experience with endoscopy and DaVinci robotic surgery is a plus
• Comfortable supporting ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general surgery, pediatrics and obstetric cases
• Teamwork, flexibility, and strong communication during high-acuity cases
