Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' functional abilities and limitations to create meaningful, individualized treatment plans
• Develop and implement therapeutic interventions that restore independence and improve quality of life
• Document all evaluations, plans, and progress in Cerner accurately and timely
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Provide education and training to patients and families to support safe discharge and carryover of skills
• Monitor patient progress, adjust interventions as needed, and communicate changes to the care team
• Ensure patient safety by following acute care protocols and best practices
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by participating in team meetings and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Current California Occupational Therapy license (or eligible to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience, with acute care experience preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Ability to work Monday-Friday daytime schedule and complete required orientation hours
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Acute care assessment and treatment planning expertise
• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and adaptive equipment
• Proficient clinical documentation and charting in Cerner
• Excellent patient and family education skills
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination
• Time management, prioritization, and caseload organization
• Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and discharge planning
