Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative care as a circulating RN in a busy ambulatory OR
• Prepare patients and the OR environment for surgery, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth case flow
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience
• Document patient care and intraoperative events accurately in Cerner EMR
• Assist with turnover, equipment setup, and supply management to keep cases on schedule
• Float to the main hospital or nearby surgery center when needed to support staffing
• Participate in unit orientation and share best practices with newer team members

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to submit; facility willing to wait if needed)
• ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; perioperative/circulating experience in a fast-paced OR strongly preferred
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Comfort working with a variety of cases (general, ENT, hand, podiatry, total joints, urology, GYN, plastics)
• Ability to scrub is a plus (preferred but not required)
• Professional communication skills and ability to collaborate with surgical teams

Education

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative knowledge: circulating and basic scrub principles
• Familiarity with sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR turnover
• Experience with general surgery and specialty cases listed (ENT, hand, total joints, plastics, etc.)
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for perioperative documentation
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient safety
• Teamwork, adaptability, and clear intraoperative communication
