Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for neonates in a Level III NICU, including ventilator-supported patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac and respiratory strips to detect and act on changes quickly
• Titrate IV drips safely and collaborate with pharmacy and respiratory therapy for optimal patient outcomes
• Work in 1:1 and 1:2 nursing ratios to deliver focused, high-acuity care
• Document assessments and interventions accurately and promptly in Cerner
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and supporting the unit without a primary patient load
• Participate in orientation and preceptorship to support new team members and maintain unit standards
• Communicate clearly with families and the multidisciplinary team, advocating for neonatal patients

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of NICU Level III experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, NIHSS
• Comfortable with 12-hour shift schedules and working every other weekend and holidays
• Experience with ventilator patient care, IV drip titration, and reading/interpreting monitoring strips
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record
• Ability to work effectively in 1:1 and 1:2 nursing ratios and collaborate with in-house neonatology and RT teams

Education

• Active California RN license
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN is not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal ventilator management and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Reading and interpretation of cardiac and respiratory monitoring strips
• IV drip titration and high-acuity medication management
• Experience caring for congenital abnormalities and feeders/growers populations
• Comfort working in a Level III NICU environment with complex cases
• Proficiency with Cerner charting and clinical documentation
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and family-centered communication skills
