Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (day) and 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (night); primarily nights with every other weekend and holiday rotation; guaranteed 36 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for neonates in a Level III NICU, including ventilator-supported patients
- Monitor and interpret cardiac and respiratory strips to detect and act on changes quickly
- Titrate IV drips safely and collaborate with pharmacy and respiratory therapy for optimal patient outcomes
- Work in 1:1 and 1:2 nursing ratios to deliver focused, high-acuity care
- Document assessments and interventions accurately and promptly in Cerner
- Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and supporting the unit without a primary patient load
- Participate in orientation and preceptorship to support new team members and maintain unit standards
- Communicate clearly with families and the multidisciplinary team, advocating for neonatal patients
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of NICU Level III experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, NIHSS
- Comfortable with 12-hour shift schedules and working every other weekend and holidays
- Experience with ventilator patient care, IV drip titration, and reading/interpreting monitoring strips
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record
- Ability to work effectively in 1:1 and 1:2 nursing ratios and collaborate with in-house neonatology and RT teams
Education
- Active California RN license
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN is not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Neonatal ventilator management and collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Reading and interpretation of cardiac and respiratory monitoring strips
- IV drip titration and high-acuity medication management
- Experience caring for congenital abnormalities and feeders/growers populations
- Comfort working in a Level III NICU environment with complex cases
- Proficiency with Cerner charting and clinical documentation
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and family-centered communication skills
