Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist during OB surgical procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Operate and document in Cerner PowerChart maternity and Cerner fetal links for FHM
• Monitor and support fetal heart monitoring systems to ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with anesthesia, OB physicians, charge nurses, and allied staff for coordinated care
• Function as an OB tech and assist as a nurse aide when there are no active cases
• Adhere to ACOG and California staffing ratios for safe couplet coverage
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations to ensure continuous patient care
• Maintain supplies, equipment readiness, and proper scrub attire as required by the facility

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Surgical Tech in OB or acute care settings
• Current BLS certification required
• COVID-19 vaccination certification required
• Comfortable and experienced with Cerner PowerChart and fetal monitoring systems (FHM)
• Experience working 12-hour night shifts and participating in weekend/holiday rotations
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner EMR, including maternity charting and fetal monitoring links
• Strong sterile technique and surgical instrumentation knowledge
• Fetal heart monitoring (FHM) familiarity and interpretation basics
• Ability to triage and prioritize in a fast-paced OB unit
• Excellent communication skills with patients and the clinical team
• Flexibility to float within OB unit and adapt to varied case flow
