Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (primarily nights). Schedule includes every-other-weekend (EOW) coverage and coverage for approximately 2 of 3 major holidays; shifts may fall any day of the week.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide advanced neonatal nursing care in a Level III NICU — manage high-acuity infants including preemies and substance-exposed babies
- Work ventilator-dependent babies using Draeger, high-frequency and NAVA/NO therapies with confidence
- Deliver safe medication administration including TPN and IV therapy using Medifusion and transitioning Alaris pumps
- Perform accurate Cerner charting (including breast milk bridge scanning) and maintain meticulous documentation
- Collaborate with neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatologists, RTs and pharmacy to optimize patient outcomes
- Take patient assignments in couplet care/postpartum when required and float to Peds/Postpartum as scheduled
- Interpret bedside telemetry via Phillips monitors and escalate arrhythmias or concerns to NNP/MD promptly
- Serve as a professional bedside advocate — communicate with families and work compassionately with surrogates
Qualifications
- Current RN license in California (or eligible for CA licensure) required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience (Level II/III experience preferred)
- Current BLS (AHA), NRP and PALS certifications required prior to start
- Cerner EMR experience is required — must complete MyJourney modules prior to arrival
- Strong IV therapy skills; experience with TPN and central lines preferred
- Comfortable providing couplet care in Postpartum and floating to Peds when needed
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet weekend/holiday rotation requirements
- Comfort with high-acuity neonatal care, NICU ratios (1:1 to 1:3) and interpreting basic arrhythmias
Education
- Active RN license (California) required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Cerner charting and breast milk bridge workflows
- Experience with Phillips monitor telemetry and bedside rhythm recognition
- Familiarity with Draeger ventilators, high-frequency ventilation, Nitric Oxide, and NAVA options
- Hands-on experience with Medifusion pumps and Alaris syringe pumps
- Strong IV therapy techniques and TPN management knowledge
- Care of extremely preterm infants (as early as ~22 weeks) and management of sepsis/respiratory failure
- Comfort managing neonatal drug withdrawal and other substance-exposed infants
- Ability to function in a busy, high-acuity NICU with autonomous decision-making and teamwork
