Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly and create clear, compassionate care plans
• Administer medications, IV therapies and IV antibiotics safely and accurately
• Perform hourly rounding and bedside shift reports to keep families and teams informed
• Document care and patient status in EPIC in a timely, professional manner
• Provide post-operative ortho nursing care including total knees/hips and related mobility support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Support patient education, discharge planning and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for Iowa submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent relevant RN experience (Med-Surg and/or Orthopedics preferred)
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Willingness to pass a post-orientation skills exam (open-book) with a 90% score
• Must not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year
• Comfort floating to PCU and behavioral health units as needed

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN accepted (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment on med-surg and ortho populations
• IV therapy, medication administration and familiarity with IV antibiotics, heparin and narcotics
• Experience with bedside shift report and hourly rounding best practices
• Charting proficiency in EPIC
• Basic wound care and telemetry familiarity
• Ability to work with diverse patient needs including dementia, addiction and behavioral health concerns
