Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent medical-surgical nursing care to adult (and occasional pediatric) patients, including post-op and acute medical cases
• Monitor patients via telemetry and promptly interpret cardiac strips, escalating concerns to the care team
• Administer medications and perform safe medication titration when needed (heparin, Bumex)
• Deliver compassionate post-operative care for hip/knee replacements, TURPs, cholecystectomies and more
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including RT, CCU monitor techs, CNAs and charge nurses to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in MEDITECH
• Respond to low-census call-ins within expected timelines when required and support unit needs when floating

Qualifications

• Active RN license or eligible to obtain the Oregon 90-Day Emergency License at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and basic titratable drips (heparin, Bumex) — titration is infrequent
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and cover every-other-weekend
• Willingness to float as a helping hand or fully cross-train if desired

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
• Experience with telemetry and reading cardiac strips
• Familiarity with MEDITECH charting system
• Competence with respiratory support devices: CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow oxygen
• Safe medication administration and familiarity with common drips
• Good teamwork, communication and prioritization in a busy acute care setting
