Shift Type: Rotating nights, 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (1830-0700). Travelers will be scheduled for nights; every other weekend required; holiday coverage (2-3) during Thanksgiving to New Years. Nights shift type: night

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition with thoughtful, timely documentation in EPIC
• Administer medications and titrate IV drips (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) safely and per protocol
• Provide telemetry awareness and monitor cardiac rhythms as part of Med-Surg/Telemetry care
• Manage PCA pumps and other set-rate drips while prioritizing patient comfort and safety
• Perform hourly rounding and ensure responsiveness to patient needs and fall prevention
• Coordinate admissions, discharges and multiple patient transitions during busy shifts
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including charge nurses, tele techs and patient care techs
• Educate patients and families in a culturally competent manner, including basic Spanish when helpful

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or valid compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry or Ortho/Trauma experience preferred)
• BLS (AHA) required at time of submission; ACLS preferred
• Demonstrated experience with IV drip titration, telemetry awareness and PCA pumps
• Proficiency charting in EPIC (electronic medical record experience required)
• Driver's license required at submission (used to verify radius rule eligibility)
• Willingness to complete orientation requirements and pass skills exam (90% pass threshold) during orientation
• Ability to float to other Med-Surg areas as needed and work as a team player

Education

• Active RN license (Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing accepted; BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med-Surg and Telemetry clinical knowledge
• Telemetry monitoring awareness and basic strip interpretation skills
• IV medication administration and titration (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine)
• Experience with PCA pumps and post-op ortho care (joint replacements, fractures)
• EPIC electronic charting proficiency
• Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple discharges/admissions
• Cultural competency serving diverse populations (Spanish, Karen, Burmese communities)
• Safe patient handling familiarity, including use of mechanical lifts
