Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality Med/Surg and pediatric Med/Surg nursing care for a diverse patient population
• Perform thorough patient assessments and act quickly on changes in condition
• Administer medications and titrate IV drips (heparin, protonix) per protocol
• Monitor patients on telemetry and collaborate with the care team to ensure safety
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Serve as team lead/charge when assigned, coordinating patient flow and staff
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Participate in unit orientation and contribute to a positive, fast-paced unit culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in California or already licensed in CA)
• 2-3 years Med/Surg experience required; pediatric Med/Surg experience preferred (travelers without pediatric experience will not be assigned pediatric patients)
• BLS required; PALS preferred
• Experience with IV medication titration and heparin drip management
• Telemetry experience and comfort working with CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow therapies
• Familiarity with Cerner charting preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and float to Tele or OB if experienced

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN acceptable; BSN not required
• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing best practices
• Telemetry monitoring and patient surveillance
• IV drip titration (heparin, protonix) and medication administration
• Comprehensive patient assessment and prioritization
• Cerner electronic health record proficiency
• Respiratory support familiarity: CPAP, BiPAP, High-flow
• Pediatric and OB care exposure (preferred)
• Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills
