Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a 55-bed MedSurg/Telemetry Orthopedics unit
• Monitor and manage patients on telemetry, maintaining tele-awareness and collaborating with tele techs
• Titrate drips safely including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine per protocol
• Manage PCA pumps and respond to patient analgesic needs
• Use EPIC for accurate charting and handoffs that keep the care team informed
• Perform thorough hourly rounding and prioritize responsiveness to patient needs
• Support admissions and discharges efficiently to keep unit flow moving
• Collaborate with charge nurses, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver excellent outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience, MedSurg/Telemetry preferred
• BLS (AHA) required at time of submission
• ACLS preferred
• Demonstrated experience with EPIC charting and PCA pump management
• Comfortable titrating drips (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) and following protocols
• Driver's license required at time of submission to meet radius rule
• Able to pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a 90% score
• Willingness to float to other medical surgical areas and work required holidays and weekends

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg and telemetry assessment skills
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms with tele-awareness
• Familiarity with orthopedic postop care including joint replacements and trauma
• Skilled in safe use of mechanical lifts and patient handling
• Proficient in medication titration and PCA pump troubleshooting
• Effective communication with diverse patient populations, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speakers
• Team-oriented attitude and excellent time management to handle high admission/discharge volume
