Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (nights). Travelers are scheduled by the facility; includes every-other-weekend rotation and 2-3 holiday shifts between Thanksgiving and New Year. (Night shift)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, safe nursing care to MedSurg Neuro patients, including stroke and post-neurosurgery cases
• Perform consistent hourly rounding and rapid patient responsiveness to improve outcomes
• Manage multiple daily admissions, discharges, and patient turnovers with efficiency
• Titrate IV drips (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) and manage PCA pumps per protocol
• Collaborate with charge nurses, tele/monitor techs and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC and provide clear shift-to-shift handoffs
• Use mechanical lifts and follow safe patient handling practices to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ADN or BSN accepted) eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Travel nurse experience preferred but strong local candidates will be considered
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (radius rule: candidates outside 50 miles may be screened out)
• Successful completion of orientation open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% (required to remain on assignment)
• No active license or background issues (clear background and license checks required)

Education

• Active RN license (ADN or BSN). BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid MedSurg and telemetry patient care knowledge
• EPIC electronic charting proficiency
• Telemetry strip awareness and ability to prioritize cardiac data
• IV drip titration and PCA pump operation/management
• Strong prioritization, multitasking and time-management abilities
• Cultural competence and experience serving diverse populations (Spanish, Karen, Burmese)
• Comfort using mechanical lifts and adhering to safe patient handling protocols
