Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms and act quickly on abnormalities
• Provide skilled post-op and medical-surgical nursing care for ortho, surgical and oncology patients
• Titrate amiodarone and diltiazem down safely per unit protocol when floating to tele units
• Establish and maintain IV access and collaborate with resources for difficult sticks
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Cerner to support safe handoffs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists and unit leadership to optimize outcomes
• Participate in competency checks including dysrhythmia assessment and simulation lab requirements
• Mentor and coordinate with PCTs and task RNs to maintain effective patient ratios and high-quality care

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for Arizona submission
• Minimum 2 years recent RN experience with telemetry (experience must be within the past 6 months)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven ability to read cardiac strips and interpret dysrhythmias
• Ability to titrate down only: amiodarone and diltiazem per policy
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts) and pass day-one Sim Lab
• Must provide a current driver’s license and cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Comfortable floating to sister facilities and MedSurg Tele units

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with GE central monitoring systems
• Proficient charting in Cerner
• Strong IV skills and familiarity with escalation to house SWAT for difficult sticks
• Post-operative ortho and oncology nursing care
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and unit leadership
• Familiarity with Spectralink phone systems and call-light workflows
