Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-operative orthopedic and med-surg nursing care for patients recovering from joint and spine procedures
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor clinical status using tele monitoring support
• Administer medications and titratable infusions according to orders, ensuring safe documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and charge nurse to coordinate safe, efficient patient care
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, mobility, pain management, and discharge planning
• Support unit workflows by assisting teammates, taking ownership of assignments, and contributing to a positive unit culture
• Maintain compliance with facility policies including infection control and the artificial nails policy

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Med-Surg and/or Orthopedics preferred)
• BLS certification required at start
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Ability to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a 90% score
• Willingness to float to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU as needed and work every-other-weekend

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med-Surg and orthopedic postoperative nursing knowledge
• Comfortable with medication administration and basic titratable infusions (pain meds, antibiotics, blood)
• Familiarity with telemetry systems and working with tele/monitor techs
• Proficiency with EPIC charting or similar electronic health records
• Excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills
• Teamwork, flexibility, and a growth mindset with a willingness to learn
