Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to MedSurg surgical, orthopedic, and oncology patients on a 32-bed telemetry unit
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and read strips accurately to inform timely interventions
• Titrate amiodarone and diltiazem down per unit protocols when floating to tele units
• Collaborate with RT and pharmacy 24/7 to optimize patient respiratory and medication needs
• Use GE monitors and central monitoring station workflows to maintain patient safety
• Perform assessments, IV starts, medication administration, and thorough Cerner charting
• Work within a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and coordinate care with charge nurse and PCTs
• Participate in required competency testing including dysrhythmia exam and sim lab

Qualifications

• Active RN license for practice in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience, with telemetry experience required (recent defined as within the past 6 months)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proven ability to read cardiac strips and interpret dysrhythmias
• Comfort titrating down amiodarone and diltiazem as required
• Willingness to float to MedSurg Tele units and work assigned weekends and holidays
• Must be able to provide a valid driver’s license and cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
• Able to pass a dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts max) and a pass/fail simulation lab on day one of orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and medical-surgical nursing best practices
• Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with GE monitoring systems and central monitoring station workflows
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• IV starts and basic procedural skills
• Effective collaboration with respiratory therapy and pharmacy teams
• Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care environment with surgical and oncology populations
• Use of Spectralink phones and unit communication workflows
