Shift Type: Primarily nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; schedule set by manager with rotating coverage as needed, every-other-weekend required, holidays as needed. (Day shift coverage exists: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; floating between med/telemetry may be required.)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality bedside nursing care to MedSurg patients, including post-operative and bariatric patients
• Use EPIC to accurately document assessments, medications, and patient care activities
• Monitor patients closely and respond to changes in condition, working with monitor techs and RT as needed
• Manage common devices and therapies such as PCA pumps, TPN, and occasional heparin drips per facility policy
• Perform bedside shift report and communicate handoffs clearly to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with patient care techs, charge nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to medical and telemetry units when required and assist with strip support in telemetry

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience (MedSurg or surgical/post-op experience preferred)
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and floating to medical/telemetry units
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred
• Familiarity with post-operative care, early ambulation, and common surgical drains (Hemovac/JP) a plus

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with EPIC electronic charting
• Strong patient monitoring and assessment skills
• Experience with PCA pumps, TPN, and managing set-rate drips like heparin
• Skilled in colostomy care and bariatric patient handling
• Comfortable performing bedside shift report and working alongside patient care techs (1:12 tech ratio)
• Ability to float to medical and telemetry and assist with remote tele monitoring processes
